Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an exceptional martial art for adult students.  Since Jiu Jitsu does not involve striking (punching and kicking) the chance of injury due to blunt force trauma is virtually eliminated.  It is a rare occurrence that a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner receives significant injury during sparring or training.  Once a submission hold is applied to an opponent; they simply “tap” to show submission. 

For those unfamiliar with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it may seem unusual for a martial art not to involve striking as a means to subdue an opponent.  However, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’s use of joint-lock submissions and choke-holds is extremely effective in dominating an opponent.  The word Jiu Jitsu loosely translates to “the gentle art.”  It is known as the gentle art because the Jiu Jitsu practitioner can use submission holds to completely subdue their opponent without inflicting permanent damage. 

The number one priority at Top Game is health and safety of our students.  We teach our students to respect their opponent and to be mindful of their partner’s safety at all times.  You will not find bullies or inflated egos at Top Game Jiu Jitsu.  All of our students care for and support each other’s journey on our path to mastering Jiu Jitsu.   

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is based on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defeat a larger, stronger opponent by using technique to apply submissions.  Therefore, your advancement in Jiu Jitsu is not based on your size or strength…but on the quality of your technique.  As long as a Top Game student can supply the desire and the heart; Top Game can provide the technique.

Walking in the door I felt welcome. The coach take time to make sure you are doing the exercise right to develop your techniques. Also there is a lot of room to roll and they have the thickest softest mat I have ever seen.
